Sports injuries and the return you actually want
The frustrating part of an injury is the thing you have had to stop doing. Care starts by identifying the injured structure and the demands you need to return to, then loading you back toward those demands in stages.
Who this page is for
Runners, golfers, lifters, field sport athletes and active adults with a recent or nagging injury.
Why people come in
These are reasons patients give for booking. They are not a diagnosis, and only an examination can tell you what is happening in your case.
- Pain at a specific point in a movement or swing
- Swelling or stiffness after training
- An injury that recurs each season
- Compensating elsewhere to keep training
How the evaluation works
We assess the injured structure, the joints above and below, and the movement pattern your sport requires.
How we may approach care
Care may include manual therapy, shockwave for suitable soft tissue complaints, and staged loading. Return to play is guided by tolerance, not by a date we promise you.
What a first visit may involve
Bring your training schedule and any upcoming competition dates so the plan fits your season.
Safety and when to seek other care
Suspected fracture, dislocation, inability to bear weight, significant swelling, or any head injury needs urgent medical assessment first.
Questions patients ask
Can I keep training?
Often in modified form. Your provider will set what is sensible based on findings.
How do you decide when I return?
By how you tolerate progressive load, reviewed as you go.
