Chiropractic care for older adults who want to keep moving

Staying independent depends on staying mobile. Care for older adults focuses on comfortable movement, and technique is chosen carefully around bone health, medications and your wider medical history. Gentler, low-force methods are available and often the right choice.

Who this page is for

Older adults with stiffness, arthritic change, back or neck pain, or concerns about walking and balance.

Why people come in

These are reasons patients give for booking. They are not a diagnosis, and only an examination can tell you what is happening in your case.

  • Stiffness getting out of a chair or out of bed
  • Pain walking any distance, easing when you sit or lean forward
  • Reduced confidence on stairs or uneven ground
  • Aching that limits gardening, golf or time with grandchildren

How the evaluation works

We review your full medical history, including bone density where known, medications and previous surgery, then examine movement, joint function and balance.

How we may approach care

Low-force and instrument-assisted techniques are commonly used. Plans usually pair in-clinic care with simple strength and balance work you can actually keep up at home.

What a first visit may involve

Bring your medication list and any relevant scans or surgical history. You will get an examination and a clear explanation of what is and is not advisable.

Safety and when to seek other care

Osteoporosis, blood-thinning medication, joint replacements and previous spinal surgery all change what is appropriate, so tell us about them. Sudden severe pain after a fall, unexplained weight loss or new neurological symptoms need medical assessment first.

Questions patients ask

Is adjustment safe with osteoporosis?

Technique must be adapted, and in some cases manual adjustment is avoided entirely. Tell your provider about your bone health at the consultation.

Can care help my balance?

Care may address mobility and strength that contribute to balance. We do not promise a specific improvement.
