Chiropractic care for children, at a child's pace

Parents usually arrive with a specific worry: a child complaining about their back after sport, a heavy school bag, or a posture question. Pediatric care starts with an age-appropriate examination and a conversation with you, and the techniques used with children are gentler than those used with adults.

Who this page is for

Children and teenagers whose parents have a musculoskeletal concern, and young athletes with sport-related complaints.

Why people come in

These are reasons patients give for booking. They are not a diagnosis, and only an examination can tell you what is happening in your case.

  • A child mentioning back or neck discomfort after sport or school
  • Posture changes a parent or coach has noticed
  • A sport-related complaint that keeps coming back
  • Discomfort carrying a school bag or after long screen sessions

How the evaluation works

The examination is age-appropriate and explained to both the child and the parent. A parent or guardian stays in the room throughout.

How we may approach care

Techniques for children are lighter and adapted to size and age. Care often focuses as much on activity, load and habits as on treatment in the clinic. If a pediatric medical opinion is the right next step, we say so.

What a first visit may involve

Expect questions about your child's history, activity and growth, a gentle examination, and a plain explanation of what we found.

Safety and when to seek other care

Fever, unexplained weight loss, night pain, a limp without clear cause, or any neurological change in a child should be assessed by their pediatrician. We make no claim that chiropractic care treats non-musculoskeletal childhood conditions.

Questions patients ask

Is the technique the same as for adults?

No. Force and technique are adapted to a child's age and size.

Do I stay in the room?

Yes. A parent or guardian stays with the child throughout.
